The next day.
Shi Yi woke up at noon.
Bai Jici was already gone. His mind drifted back to last night.
He had woken up drowsily before sleeping, and he had heard that muffled sound. Any man would know what Bai Jici had been doing.
Could it be… he really liked him? That was why he’d reacted that way?
But how was that possible?
What about him was worth liking?
Shi Yi smiled bitterly. He shouldn’t think so highly of himself.
He got up, his stomach empty and aching. Just then, Bai Jici walked in with a steaming hot meal.
“You’re awake. Perfect. This is lunch. Eat quickly before it gets cold.”
Shi Yi took the chopsticks and asked, “What about you?”
“I already ate with the company staff.” Bai Jici grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the nightstand and took a sip. “Don’t worry about me.”
“And,” Bai Jici picked up a sling bag hanging on the wall, “after you finish eating, I have something to talk to you about.”
Once Shi Yi ate his last bite dipped in chili, Bai Jici thoughtfully handed him some water. After he finished, Bai Jici pulled several documents from the bag and slid them over to Shi Yi.
Shi Yi glanced at them. “A contract from your company’s HR department?”
Bai Jici hummed in agreement. “I know you’re good at this field. Will you sign and come work for me?”
There was a selfish motive behind this contract. Once Shi Yi signed, he would never be able to leave again.
In these five years, he had obtained everything he ever wanted — except for one treasure that nothing else could compare to. He wanted to hold it, keep it, lock it in his hands.
Bai Jici stared fixedly at Shi Yi’s hand holding the pen.
But after a moment, Shi Yi set the pen down and pushed the contract back to him.
What was this? Did he not want to sign?
If this didn’t work either… then he would have to…
“Stop making things so complicated. Let’s be honest with each other.”
Bai Jici was confused. “Hm?”
Shi Yi’s hand under the table clenched into his clothes. “I’ll ask you three questions. Answer truthfully, and I promise I won’t leave.”
“First. Bai Jici… do you like me?”
“Yes.” Bai Jici answered without hesitation. “I like you.”
“Second. Is this the kind of liking that wants to spend your whole life with me?”
“Yes.”
“Third…” Shi Yi’s voice wavered slightly. “Why do you like me?”
“There’s no reason.” Bai Jici looked straight at him. “You’re just different from everyone else. Only you can move my emotions.”
Shi Yi’s cheeks flushed pink. He asked again, “When did you start liking me?”
Bai Jici couldn’t hold back anymore. He grabbed Shi Yi’s wrist, pressed him down, and lifted his chin.
“You said only three questions. This is the fourth.”
“I know.” Shi Yi stammered nervously. “I’m just… curious.”
“I started noticing you at the basketball game five years ago, when you gave me water.” Bai Jici’s voice was low and hoarse. “Then I fell for you, little by little.”
“Now it’s my turn to ask.” Bai Jici’s fingertip gently brushed Shi Yi’s soft, pink lips. “Do you like me too?”
Shi Yi’s face burned red. He let out a tiny “mm” — so quiet it was almost inaudible.
But Bai Jici heard it.
He leaned down and kissed him without another word, claiming every corner of his mouth, soft, lewd sounds filling the air. They kissed deeply, tangled in each other.
“I waited for you for five years. You have to make it up to me, Xiaoyi.”
Bai Jici’s hand pulled down his pants.
The room was filled with spring light.
